Music Technology BTEC

What will I learn?

You will learn how to record live bands, mix the recording and produce it. We will learn all about the Music Industry and how it operates. You will learn how to set up a stage for a show with microphones and lights. You will learn how to use our music technology software to produce tracks.

Do I need to play an instrument?

No! All you need is an interest in the Music Industry.

Is there an exam?

The course is 75% coursework with a small exam worth 25%. The exam can be taken more than once!

What skills will I develop during the course?

Communication, teamwork, collaboration, leadership, time management, confidence, motivation, listening, evaluation and many more. This course has many transferable skills that apply to any future career.

What will I get at the end of it?

BTEC courses are assessed using Pass, Merit, Distinction. The course is equivalent to 1 GCSE so you could think of it as Pass = C    Merit = B   and   Distinction = A. You will be awarded Distinction * if your work is of the highest quality.

Will I enjoy the course?

The course is designed to be very practical, so if you like to be 'hands on', then this course is for you. Many students say it is a nice break from the other heavy academic subjects and provides a balanced learning experience.
